Antonio Trimani is an Italian video artist whose work has been and continues to be shaped by a tireless search for meaning and completeness. He has worked alongside many of the most
representative artists on the international scene. Since the 2005 he has worked regularly for Peter Campus and Alvin Curran. He also collaborated with Jacques Derrida on a video and photographic project (mentioned in the book Luoghi dell’indecidibile, edited by Francesco Garritano and Emilio Sergio, Rubbettino, 2012). For some years he has turned his skills and technical andaesthetic knowledge to personal experimentation, artworks and artistic expression.
After graduating in modern literature, and post graduating in MA Video in London, has created a number of single-channel video, installations and documentaries. He worked for the most important museums and galleries in Italy and abroad, such as RAM Radioartemobile, Collezione iCotroneo, AlbinonGallery London, C.N.R. Pisa, MACRO Roma, ARCOS Benevento, Centre
Pompidou Musée National d’Art Moderne, NCCA Moscow, Valentina Bonomo Gallery Rome, Inner Room Siena, Martin Gropius Bau Berlin, Museo Carraffa Cordoba Argentina, Centro Cultural Recoleta Buenos Aires, DOX Centre Prague, Palazzo Te Mantova, Fondazione Mudima Milan, Fondazione Maramotti Reggio Emilia, Pušhkin State Museum Moscow and many other institutions and galleries. He has curated exhibitions of indipendent cinema and video art programe.
In 2001 he founded the video production studio Ethical Imaging. In 2013 he opened a new space Antonio Trimani Studio.' In all these years, he has made installations of many artists among others, Vito Acconci, Stephen Vitiello, Studio Azzurro, Gary Hill, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Jimmie Durham, Dan Graham, Carla Accardi, Fabrizio Plessi, Bill Viola. He has published photographic works and essays about cinema and electronic arts. For many years he has led video workshops for public and private institutions. He has taught for the Master of Education and Dimensions of Contemporary, Faculty of Humanities of the Roma Tre University. Currently, is Professor at Accademy of Fine Art in Frosinone.
He has shown work in Italy and worldwide, in a solo and group exhibitions. In November 2014 he participated in a three person exhibition called 'De Bello Naturae' at Museo Civico di Barletta. He has been present at the 54th Venice Biennale, Regional Pavilion; he has taken part at the China_Italy Biennale in Beijing; at 6th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, NCCA special project 'Oprtic of Sound' curated by Vitaly Patsyukov.
In June 2015, he has inaugurated a site-specific installation at the Monumental Complex of Santa Maria della Scala. Subsequently, together with the artist Peter Campus and photographers Kathleen J. Graves and Ito Lim, he has show in Korea at the Seoul City Gallery in 2017, the exhibition entitled 'De Bello Naturae', the same exhibition has moved to the Suwon Art Center, and Street Museum Yesultong, also in South Korea. In the same year, thanks to the invitation of the artist and curator César Meneghetti, he has taken part at NO\I DIAMO [+] SENSO exhibition, at the Chiostro del Bramante in Rome.
In 2017 his solo exhibition has taken place at CIAC Genazzano, Centro Internazionale per l'Arte Contemporanea, curated by Claudio Libero Pisano; has shown at SZ Art Space - 798 ART DISTRICT Beijin in a group exhibition. Recently, he has produced a cite specific intallation, for the residency at BoCS Art, International Residency Programe, in his home town Cosenza. Hisinstallationis now part of the collection of the BoCS Art Museum in Cosenza.
In 2018 his double solo exhibition (with Matteo Montani) Invitation To a Disater, has been aspecial project in a Milanese at located on the eighth oor of via Melchiorre Gioia 135, producedby Carlo Cinque, Le Stazioni Contemporary Art. An everyday dwelling is transformed not into adomestic exhibition space, as per the now well-established formula of the Home Gallery, but into a journey of initiation for the viewer who, with continual amazement and, perhaps for some, a sense of oppression, experiences the invigorating light that comes from Montani’s paintings or the reverberations of Trimani’s video monitors.
In 2019 has co-curated Microcosmo, visioni di paesaggi dal mondo (with Monica Di Gregorio), at Museo Palazzo Doria Pamphilj, Valmontone with 40 worldwide artists. The exhibition gathered over 70 works by both wellknown and emerging international artists in a narration of the vast horizons of contemporary art. Currently, his video work With the Eyes of Others, is part of Open Borders exhibition at 14th Curitiba International Biennial of Contemporary Art, curated by Massimo Scaringella, at Oscar Niemeyer Museum.
